Insert Moulding

Image of Insert Moulding

Pre-moulded or machined components can be inserted into the cavity while the mould is open, allowing the material injected in the next cycle to form and solidify around them. This process is known as Insert moulding and allows single parts to contain multiple materials. This process is often used to create plastic parts with threaded inserts and other components allowing them to be fastened or connected quickly.

Incorporating inserts or components at the time of the moulding process saves post moulding operation time. When incorporated as part of the moulding process, the inserts are loaded by the process operator.  The process of insert moulding can create a stronger bond than post moulding pressed insert.
